The Tesla Model S Plaid reaches a record speed of 330 km/h on the German highway, proving that electric energy can compete with the best combustion engines.

The Tesla Model S Plaid has redefined high-level motoring, reaching an astonishing speed of 200 mph (320 km/h) on Germany’s famous Autobahn. Known for breaking traditional EV speed barriers, the Model S Plaid features Tesla’s $15,000 Track Pack and has shown that electric vehicles no longer play second fiddle to combustion engines when it comes to sheer speed.

Tesla initially limited the speed of the Model S Plaid to 266 km/h, but this special edition with the Track Pack breaks that limitation, as shown in a recent video from AutoTopNL. The video captures the Plaid’s exhilarating acceleration, going from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.56 seconds and to 120 mph in 6.82 seconds, all well beyond typical electric vehicle performance .

The Model S Plaid not only dominated the Autobahn, but also made headlines at the Nürburgring Nordschleife on June 2, 2023. With a time of 7 minutes and 25.231 seconds, it became the fastest all-electric production car on the circuit, dethroning the Porsche Taycan Turbo S. For its run at the Nürburgring, Tesla equipped the Plaid with a traditional round steering wheel, prioritizing control over the unconventional yoke design.

The Model S Plaid’s Track Pack features carbon ceramic brakes, Goodyear Eagle 3R tires and advanced Zero-G forged aluminum wheels, all of which optimize handling and braking at high speeds. Powered by a three-motor setup that produces 1,020 horsepower, the Plaid offers unparalleled performance for an electric sedan and effortlessly matches the speeds of high-performance combustion rivals such as the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing and Maserati Ghibli Trofeo, which also top 200 mph.

With its Autobahn run and Nürburgring record, the Tesla Model S Plaid has firmly staked its claim as the leader in the fast EV market. As the automotive world moves toward electric power, Tesla’s Plaid model has set a new standard, proving that the future of high-speed performance is undeniably electric.
