Military family has major problems with car transport company

Many people transport cars without any real problems, but a military family from one part of the country to another had a terrible experience with a car transport company. While it is sad to hear about their frustrating time, there is also a lesson to be learned as what happened to them could happen to anyone.

Reddit user doesn’t know what a DeLorean is.

What many people don’t understand is that some car shipping services are more like brokers. They don’t actually ship vehicles, but instead purchase your bid from trucks that do. Some of those drivers engage in unscrupulous practices, something this couple learned the hard way.

You can watch the entire WCVB news story to get all the details, but it basically boils down to a driver who decided he would get more money from the military family instead of delivering their Mustang and Cherokee for the price they paid .

Since there was a contract and the couple handed over the vehicles, the legal system was not as helpful as if someone had taken their car without permission. However, these people did not give up and were eventually given a court hearing, which the transport driver skipped and obtained a court order.

Their cars are probably long gone. We’re not lawyers, so we can’t say for sure if this is legally theft, but it certainly seems like it. How the transport driver can legally do anything with the vehicles other than return them is the big question we would like to answer.

But we have often seen car transport services steal cars and do other questionable things. That’s why we recommend doing your homework on a service before you sign anything or hand over any money, and especially before you hand over your keys to them.

Reputable car transport companies are not always the cheapest in advance. But the cheap ones can cost you a lot of money in the long run.
