Blazin Rodz showed up at the SEMA 2024 show in Las Vegas with a highly modified 1970 Chevelle he calls Doughboy and there’s a lot going on. Not only is the thing ridiculously powerful, which we love, its design is inspired by drag racers, GT Cup cars and seemingly modern exotic supercars. In other words, this is definitely not your father’s or grandfather’s Chevelle.

Some will be mesmerized by this build, others will probably find it a bit much, but we think it shows what Blazin Rodz can do.
The insane horsepower comes from the 540ci big block built by ACE Racing Engines and dual Precision 8385 Next Gen turbochargers. To keep things running smoothly under load, the 3D printed carbon fiber radiator cutouts and heat exchanger outlets are workshop printed, giving the air-to-water intercooler a faster way to dissipate heat.
Other parts used in the body kit have also been 3D printed, showing that the technology is more than just a useless toy. To create the body kit, it was first shaped by hand and then 3D scanned to ensure a proper fit, because nothing looks worse than a poorly fitting body kit.
As you can clearly see, the result is phenomenal. Even if you don’t like the aesthetics of the body kit, which understandably won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, the craftsmanship is of the highest level. The same goes for the interior and engine compartment.
3D printing is not the only advanced technology used for this construction. The firewall is designed in CAD and then manufactured using a pioneering CNC method that ensures better precision and improves the surface finish. A similar process was used for the cabin roll cage.
We have a video from Larry Chen taking a closer look at this build, so check that out if you want to see more. We expect Blazin Rodz to come up with more revolutionary, breathtaking cars in the future.
