Jeremy Clarkson, known for his dry British humor, has revealed before the final episode of The Grand Tour aired that he can no longer drive the cars he loves most. It’s something that shocks or makes people laugh as the influential car reviewer continues to entertain his fans.
Actor claims he can’t afford fuel for his truck and trades it in for a hybrid.
Looking back on his career in a column published in Britain The Sunday timeshe reminisces about his time Top equipment and how he, James May and Richard Hammond became the most unlikely of friends and allies, turning around what was a dismal BBC car show.
After their tenure ended, the trio signed with Amazon Prime The Grand Tour. But that is now getting close. To the dismay of many, Clarkson announces in the column that the trio is splitting up and going their separate ways.
They had a solid 22-year run and achieved the kind of stardom that no other car reviewer in the world has ever enjoyed. Nothing lasts forever and honestly, it’s amazing that their time in the spotlight has lasted this long.
Clarkson even thumbs his nose at critics who had been waiting for the trio to crash and burn professionally. Of course that never happened. And now they ride off into the sunset.
Only, Clarkson will no longer drive one of the many cool cars he has enjoyed all these years. You see, in the column he admits that he can’t do things like that anymore because he’s “too old and too fat to get in the car.” Considering the acrobatics required to climb in and out of virtually every supercar and hypercar, we understand what he means.
May and Hammond talk in their own words about their thoughts on their careers together on Top Gear and The Grand Tour. It’s a moving way to mark the end of an era.
