Firefighters in Palm Beach, Florida, recently faced the unusual task of retrieving a Ferrari Roma that had fallen down an elevator shaft. This rare event occurred at a luxury car dealership that was equipped with a specialized car lift, not the type typically found in residential or office buildings. The faulty lift turned the dealership into an unexpected scene of dramatic car recovery.
The 2023 Ferrari Roma, worth more than $243,000, found itself in a precarious situation when the luxury vehicle fell into the back of the elevator shaft. Fortunately, the 3.9-liter turbocharged V8 engine, known for its impressive power, was spared significant damage due to its position. However, the incident was not without complications. Firefighters encountered a fuel leak, prompting them to use portable standpipes to contain the leak and prevent potential fire hazards. Turning off power to the dealer was a precaution to prevent fires caused by sparks.
With the fuel situation under control, the team used a crane and chains to lift the Ferrari Roma from its unintended grave. Although the rear of the vehicle sustained significant damage, it is unlikely to be scrapped. Instead, the Roma could be branded with a brand title, indicating its unusual history but still potentially appealing to enthusiasts and collectors who value its storied past.
